Mull has an extremely mild climate, and soil suitable for growing an extraordinary variety of plants. Any visit to Lip na Cloiche should demonstrate that an Isle of Mull garden can be far from bleak. A visit to the garden should illustrate the range of possibilities afforded by the local conditions, and the eclectic planting of varieties from as far afield as Chile and New Zealand is sure to give any gardener some ideas.

For those interested in gardening, Torosay Castle is also worth a visit. The castle, dating from the mid-nineteenth century, is surrounded by 12 acres of formal ornamental gardens.
